Is NetShort free?

For the opening stretch, yes. NetShort is free to download, and a typical series plays 9 or 10 episodes without charge before coins, ads or VIP come in.

NetShort's own FAQ puts it the same way: early episodes are free on many series, and later ones may need coins, a subscription, ads or VIP. Whole series are another matter. NetShort is the biggest app in our catalog, with 9,410 series, and only 7 of them are free to the last episode.

How many NetShort episodes are free?

A median NetShort show has 9 free episodes, and episode 11 is the most common place for the lock. The cluster is tight:

How do NetShort coins and VIP work?

NetShort runs on two kinds of payment: coins, which the terms describe as virtual currency you can earn in the app or buy, and VIP, a subscription billed weekly, monthly or yearly under its membership agreement.

What VIP adds, according to the store listing: ad-free viewing where available, HD playback, offline downloads for supported titles and access to more episodes in selected series. NetShort's FAQ adds that 1080p streaming is for VIP members. When VIP expires you get a grace period, but 1080p, downloads and ad-free viewing are restricted during it.

US App Store prices, checked October 22, 2026:

  • Weekly VIP items at $5.99, $19.99, $24.99 and $29.99;
  • one-time purchases at $9.99 and $19.99, with no coin amount shown.

Google Play lists items from $0.49 to $299.99 per item. NetShort doesn't publish a coin rate or what an episode costs in coins on any page we could find, and prices shift by region and over time, so check the app.

Two rules worth knowing before you pay. Coin sales are final under the terms, unless NetShort decides otherwise. And VIP is cancelled from the Me page in the app, or in your Apple ID subscriptions if you paid through Apple; you keep the benefits until the billing cycle ends.

Legit ways to get more free NetShort episodes

Watching ads is the official free option. NetShort's FAQ lists ads alongside coins and VIP as ways to unlock later episodes, and the terms confirm coins can be earned inside the service, not only bought.

How many ads you can watch a day, and how much each one unlocks, isn't stated on any official page. The app's own screens are the only reliable source for that.

You can also watch on NetShort's website from a computer. It doesn't add free episodes, but it saves you from squinting at a phone.

A few NetShort titles lock only the final episode, and these five also give you a long free start:

Beyond Odyssey comes closest to a free show, with more than half of its episodes open. The Beggar King's Bride gives you the most episodes in raw numbers.

Usually in the app, not always on the website. Downloads depend on the title and your account, and they're listed as a VIP benefit.

Go to the Me page in the app and tap Contact Us. The recharge agreement says NetShort reviews each request itself and replies within 24 hours.

What happens when NetShort VIP runs out?

You enter a grace period with some VIP features still working. 1080p, downloads and ad-free viewing are restricted until you renew.
