How to Watch Short Dramas Free (Legally), Nov 2026

Updated

What is the legal way to watch short dramas for free?

There are two, and both have limits. First, every big app lets you watch the opening episodes of a series for free, usually about the first nine or ten. Second, the apps and some of their partners post episodes on their official YouTube channels.

We found 19 such channels with videos, carrying 6,869 videos that cover 2,740 series, in data taken on November 2, 2026. That is a real library, but it is not a way to watch everything for nothing. Most of what appears on YouTube is an opening stretch or a cut of several episodes, and a full series is rare.

What do the official channels post?

Videos fall into four kinds, and the kind decides how much you actually get.

Format Videos Share
Multi-episode cut (several episodes joined, often partial) 3,603 52%
Single episode 2,420 35%
Episode range (titles like "Episodes 1–11") 692 10%
Full series 154 2%

The channels differ a lot in style. ReelShort's main channel has 470 series and 1,056 videos, mostly episode ranges and cuts. Its examples include "Married The Mafioso I Saved: Episodes 1–11". GoodShort Episodes covers 539 series with 664 videos, nearly all multi-episode cuts. FlickReels posts the most videos by far, 2,543, almost all of them (2,135) single episodes. NetShort's main channel lists 389 series and 548 videos, also mostly cuts, and DramaBox's main channel 140 series with 198 videos.

The table above shows every channel with its numbers. A channel's video count is not a count of what is free, since many videos are partial.

How fast do new dramas appear on YouTube?

For the main channels, quickly, but only for some shows. The median time from a series' release to its first video is 0.3 days on ReelShort and 0.2 days on NetShort, 1.2 days on FlickReels and 1.5 on GoodShort Moments. DramaBox's main channel takes 4.4 days, and GoodShort Episodes 12.2.

The catch is coverage. Among series released in the last 30 days, the share with a video on a given channel ranges from 0% to 11% in our data. GoodShort Moments leads at 11.2%, then GoodShort Episodes at 8.1% and DramaBox at 3.8%. ReelShort's main channel covers 1.3% of its recent releases and NetShort's 1.8%. So YouTube is good for a taste of well-promoted titles, and a poor way to follow new releases.

Can you watch a whole short drama free on YouTube?

Rarely, and we will not promise it. A full series appears in 154 of the 6,869 videos, about 2%. Most of them come from ReelShort's main channel (102), with NetShort Vibes (24), NetShort (17), GoodShort Episodes (6), GoodShort Moments (4) and ReelShort APP Moments (1) behind.

A title that is complete on one channel today may be cut later, and none of these formats is guaranteed to last. Treat a full series on YouTube as a bonus when it exists.

What is free inside the apps themselves?

Everything the apps confirm officially is covered in our guides, and it comes down to the opening episodes plus small rewards:

  • The free start. In our catalog, the median series gives 9 free episodes on ReelShort, DramaBox, GoodShort and NetShort, and 10 on ShortMax. See the best short drama apps for the comparison.
  • Ads and check-ins. NetShort's FAQ lists ads as a way to unlock later episodes, and DramaBox's policies describe check-ins and ads feeding its coin rewards. How much each pays is not published, so open the rewards screen in your app. Details: Is NetShort free? and Is DramaBox free?.
  • Bonus coins. ShortMax and GoodShort keep a separate bonus balance next to purchased coins; see Is ShortMax free? and Is GoodShort free?.
  • Fully free shows. Only a handful exist, mostly on ReelShort: completely free dramas lists them, and dramas with 15+ free episodes goes further than most.

How do you find the free episodes of a specific show?

Search for it on ReelSeries and open its page. The "Where to watch" block shows the free episodes on each app that carries the show, and, when an official channel posted it, a "Watch free" block lists the videos with what they cover, such as "Episodes 1–11" or a count of videos and minutes. Pick the app with the most free episodes, then check the YouTube videos before you spend coins. Our guide to what vertical dramas are explains the format if you are new to it.

What should you avoid?

Re-uploads of shows on sites and channels that are not the app's own. They are unofficial and often cut or mislabelled, and there is no way to tell whether they will stay up. We do not link to them and do not name them. The same goes for anything that promises free or unlimited coins: DramaBox's terms, for one, say coins work only inside the app and cannot be exchanged for money. Our DramaBox safety guide covers how to stay safe.

How we counted

The counts come from the official YouTube channels we track, 19 with videos, as of November 2, 2026. "Official" means channels run by the app itself; partner channels are not counted. We group videos by how they are labelled (single episode, range of episodes, multi-episode cut, full series). Release timing is the median gap between a series' release in its app and its first video on that channel; for channels where we cannot match release dates it is not shown. Coverage of new releases is measured over the last 30 days. Numbers change daily, so use the table for the current picture.

Frequently asked questions

Is watching on YouTube legal? Yes, when the channel is the app's own. That is the only kind we count.

Are the YouTube episodes complete? Usually not. Over half the videos are multi-episode cuts and most of the rest are single episodes or ranges. Only 2% are full series.

Why do channels have more videos than series? Because one series is often split across several videos, and some channels post the same series in more than one cut.
