Is NetShort Legit? What We Checked (Oct 2026)
Is NetShort legit?
Yes, NetShort is a legitimate app. NETSTORY PTE. LTD., a Singapore company, publishes it under its own name on the App Store and Google Play, it has over 100 million Android installs, and it publishes a step-by-step refund process with response times. Most bad reviews are about how many ads it takes to unlock an episode.
Who makes NetShort?
NETSTORY PTE. LTD. is the seller on the App Store and the developer on Google Play, where the listed business address is City House on Robinson Road, Singapore. The user agreement and the recharge agreement are both contracts with NETSTORY. NetShort's FAQ names netshort.com as the place to watch on a computer, alongside the iOS and Android apps.
Ratings in the app stores
On October 22, 2026, NetShort had 4.7 out of 5 on the US App Store from about 229,000 ratings, and 4.7 out of 5 on Google Play from about 2.05 million reviews. It's the only app among the five we track with the same score in both stores.
There's one thing to weigh against those numbers. In some of its store replies to unhappy users, NetShort offers a gift for contacting support and an "exclusive upgraded reward" for updating the review afterwards. That doesn't make the app unsafe, but it's a reason not to treat the average as the whole story.
Common complaints
The biggest complaint about NetShort is ads. Reviewers describe a single unlock turning into several ads in a row, ads that run longer than the episode they unlock, and a lot of ad time before a series gets anywhere. The other recurring point is the cost of finishing a series with coins. Less often, people mention network errors and glitches in AI-generated scenes.
Is it safe to pay on NetShort?
Inside the official app, payment goes through normal store billing: NetShort's terms say payment processing is done by the third-party service you buy through. The App Store description adds that subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current one expires, under Apple ID > Subscriptions.
What the recharge agreement, updated June 21, 2026, promises:
- refund requests are handled by NetShort itself, through Me > Contact Us in the app;
- support should answer within 24 hours, and approved refunds are processed within 24 hours for urgent cases and 72 hours otherwise;
- a completed top-up is final unless the product can't be used;
- top-ups made through unauthorized channels aren't compensated.
The user agreement also gives you 30 days from a charge to report it as an error. It says the service isn't meant for anyone under 18, even though Apple rates the app 13+.
Privacy, from the store labels: Apple says identifiers, usage data, diagnostics and other data may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Google Play says the app may share location, personal info and five other data types with third parties, encrypts data in transit and accepts deletion requests.
How to stay safe
Use the App Store, Google Play or netshort.com, and nothing else. NetShort's terms forbid selling or transferring coins outside the service, so coin generators and "unlimited coins" mods aren't official, and the recharge agreement won't cover money paid through them.
Free episodes help too. Beyond Odyssey gives you 20 of its 39 episodes free, our NetShort catalog shows the free count on every title, and Is NetShort free? explains where the paywall usually falls. If you subscribe and change your mind, see how to cancel a NetShort subscription.
