Is ReelShort Legit? What We Checked (Oct 2026)
Is ReelShort legit?
Yes. ReelShort is a real streaming app sold through the official App Store and Google Play, with more than 100 million installs on Android alone, and nothing we found points to a scam. It can get expensive if you binge, though, and nearly every complaint about it is about money rather than safety.
Who makes ReelShort?
ReelShort is made by Crazy Maple Studio. On the App Store the seller is New Leaf Publishing, Inc., and the developer is shown as NewLeaf Publishing. Google Play uses the same developer name, with a business address in Dover, Delaware, and a support email at crazymaplestudio.com.
The terms of use you accept in the app are an agreement with Crazy Maple Studio, Inc., and the official website is reelshort.com. Before installing, our ReelShort catalog lists every series we track there.
Ratings in the app stores
On October 22, 2026, ReelShort had 4.7 out of 5 on the US App Store from about 512,000 ratings, and 3.8 out of 5 on Google Play from about 1.95 million reviews.
That gap is unusual. Of the five big drama apps we follow, ReelShort has the lowest Google Play score by a clear margin, while its iPhone rating is in line with the rest.
Common complaints
Most complaints about ReelShort are about limits on free viewing and the cost of VIP. The critical reviews on both store pages return to:
- ad-unlocked viewing has a daily limit, so watching free means stopping partway and coming back tomorrow;
- VIP feels pricey for minute-long episodes, and it renews every week;
- some subscribers say they struggled to find where to cancel.
ReelShort answers a lot of these itself. Its App Store replies say the app is free to use and that content unlocks with optional ads and rewarded tasks. On Google Play it points people to daily check-ins and ads for free coins, and tells subscribers to cancel under the subscriptions tab of the App Store or Google Play.
Is it safe to pay on ReelShort?
Paying inside the official app works like any other in-app purchase: on an iPhone the charge goes to your Apple account, and ReelShort's terms say card payments are handled by third-party payment processors. Before you tap Buy:
- VIP renews on its own. The App Store description says a subscription lasts 7 days, renews automatically and is charged within 24 hours before each new period. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal, using our step-by-step cancellation guide.
- Refunds are the exception. The terms call subscription payments and coin purchases final and non-refundable, unless the terms or Crazy Maple Studio say otherwise.
- Privacy, per the store labels. Apple's label says identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Google Play's data safety section says no data is shared with third parties, data is encrypted in transit, and you can ask for it to be deleted.
- Age. The App Store rates it 13+, but the terms say the service isn't for anyone under 18.
How to stay safe
Get ReelShort from the App Store, Google Play or reelshort.com, and nowhere else. Skip "free coins" generators, modded APKs and sites that re-upload its shows. The terms forbid selling or transferring coins outside the service, so coins offered anywhere else aren't an official channel.
For billing problems, ReelShort's replies send you to Profile > Feedback in the app. And if you'd rather not pay at all, start with short dramas that are free to the end, most of them ReelShort titles, or read how far ReelShort's free episodes go.
